Farm challenge
Herd immunity
„How can I reduce disease in the herd?”
Goal: less disease through a good calf start and the right nutrition.
The problem
What farmers usually notice:
- Frequent illness in a group
- Slow recovery after illness
- Poor passive immunity in calves
Common causes
- Insufficient colostrum quantity or quality for calves
- Trace element or vitamin deficiencies
- Stress, stocking density, housing
- No prevention plan with the vet
Economic impact
Disease means treatment, labour and lost production. Track cases, treatment costs and days of reduced output.
Recommended actions
- Calves: feed good colostrum promptly
- Cows: check mineral and vitamin supply
- Agree a prevention programme with your vet
- Reduce stress and overcrowding
Important: if animals show signs of disease, contact your vet. Products are not medicines.
Aquablend solutions
We help organise colostrum routines (ColoQuick) and, once needs are assessed, periodically supplement trace elements and vitamins through water (Super Cynk, Hydrovit Oregano).
